El Chapulin in PolaroidPolaroid is a Venezuelan bar located in Gotic neighborhood in Carrer dels Còdols 29, it is a small bar with 80s theme decoration: VHS tapes, E.T with its bike, Pac Man, posters of representative films of the time as Top Gun, Ghostbusters and NeverEnding Story and display cases with items representing the 80s as Chespirito (famous mexican actor, writer and comedian), Care Bears, Alf, the Garbage and Pac Man.

The bar has a cool and relax atmosphere, the drinks are good and cheap, especially if you ask for the 1 € caña (small beer) or for the mohitos. The music is excellent, really worth spending a whole night listening to all the 80s classics, that music that brings to your mind the best times of your live.

Parc de la Ciutadella in english “Ciutadella Park” is located in edge of the old town in the district of Ciutat Vella, in the triangle between the station of France, the Arc de Triomphe and the Villa Olímpica.

The Parc host 280.000 mthat includes a zoo, a lake, a large fountain, museums and The Catalan Parliament. The main attractions are the Zoo Barcelona, home to 2,200 individuals from over 315 species in 13.5 hectares. The Zoo was opened to the public on the Festival of the Mercè in 1892, Barcelona's patron saint's day on 24 September, from them until now is one of the favorite places for children and adults.

Plaça Catalunya is the most popular meeting place in Barcelona; anything can happen in their 50,000 square meters, from a celebration of the most famous football team of Catalonia: The FC Barcelona to protests and citizen movements as 15-M Movement or Indignants movement.

Plaça Catalunya meaning in English "Catalonia Square” is a large square in Barcelona considered as the center of the city, aswell,  connects new and old town. Most of the important streets and avenues meet at Plaça Catalunya: Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, Las Ramblas or Portal de l'Àngel.

The square is also known for the sculptures, fountains and benches, a place where you will enjoy for a sunny afternoon... there is nothing better than sitting in there and see hundreds of people from various cultures passing through the square.

As a small recommendation we want to say: Beware of pigeons! ;) ...

Also, around the square you will found a lot of large department stores as El Corte Ingles, FNAC, Hard Rock Cafe and Café Zurich, a popular café and social meeting place in the city.

The Dalí museum is not in Barcelona, it is located in Figueres, the birthplace of artist Salvador Dalí, a town near Barcelona, just a short train journey away.

The Dali Museum in Figueres contains all the artistic legacy of Salvador Dalí career, from his earliest artistic experiences and his surrealist creations down to the works of the last years of his life.

Some of the most important exhibited works are Port Alguer (1924), L'espectre del sex-appeal (1932), Autoretrat tou amb bacon fregit (1941), Poesia d'Amèrica-Els atletes còsmics (1943), Galarina (1944–45), La panera del pa (1945), Leda atòmica (1949), Galatea de les esferes (1952) and Crist de la Tramuntana (1968).

3. Museum of the History of Catalonia

This is the perfect place to understand since the beginning the Catalonian history, heritage and know in detail about Catalans identity.

The museum of the History of Catalonia is located in the Palau de Mar in Barcelona, the former General Stores, the sole building of Barcelona's Old Port still standing. . The Stores were designed in 1881 by the engineer Maurici Garrán, the first director of the Barcelona Port Board of Works, and were intended for use as trading depots.

5. Centre of Contemporany Culture Barcelona (CCCB)

To talk about La Taguara, an amazing restaurant located in Born, Barcelona, first of all we have to explain what is the meaning of “Arepa”: According with the Wikipedia definition, an arepa is a dish made of ground corn dough or cooked flour, popular in Venezuela and other Spanish-speaking countries. But, if we take the definition from the point of view of those who have tried, we could say that is a fantastic, healthy and unique dish.

La Taguara is a Venezuelan restaurant specialized in arepas with all kinds of ingredients such as chicken, tuna, meat, cheese, avocado etc. The place is really cozy although you have to eat standing. The atmosphere is really cool with good music, colorful mask  and typical Venezuelan decoration.

Our favorites dishes in La Taguara are “La pelúa” (meat and cheese), “reina pepeada”(chicken and avocado, “sifrina” (chicken, yellow cheese and avocado)  y la “Catira”(Chicken and yellow cheese).

Sitges Carnival 2012

16th to the 22nd of February 2012 Finally! Sitges Carnival is here, now it is time to party and enjoy craziest parade in Catalunya. carnaval-sitges

Sitges Carnival is a wild, colourful 'Mardi Grass type carnival. More than 40 floats filled with beautiful people, fancy dressed and wild costumes. All people dance and party around the streets and most of them dress up with fun costumes.

The carnival has two special parades due to be on Sunday and Tuesday; the Rua de la Disbauxa and the Rua de l‘Extermini respectively. In Tuesday afternoon, children in fancy dress & costumes used to have their own parade.

Although the carnival is in winter, it is considered one of the hottest party in Catalunya, however, dress warm! (gloves, leggings, and many layers as possible). Also it is a good idea have a reserve of hot drinks and some with a bit of liquor.
