Llamber Tavern – El Born
New and very stylish restaurant in Born
Wandering trough my "barrio" I always keep my eyes open for changes - new bars, shops, restaurants etc. El Born is like the heart of Barcelona, you can almost hear it beating. It has its own very special and lively atmosphere and contrasts, which can't be much bigger: strolling around Carrer de l'Argenteria and Passeig del Born, which are always full of life, filled with locals and people from all over the world. But in the next moment you find yourself in one of the beautiful narrow streets or in the impressive Santa Maria del Mar church, escaped from the small and busy boulevards into the silence.
Well..my thoughts start straying away from the actual purpose of my post today. So.. what I have found was the new...
This new and very stylish restaurant, opened in the end of 2012, is located next to the Born market and in 1 min distance to the Parc de la Ciutadella. Barcelona is famous for Tapas, but what young Asturian chef Franciso Heras and his team is serving, is Haute Cuisine of the typical Tapas. Fran already worked in the famous El Bulli with Ferrán Adriá and opened now his second Llamber (first one in Avilés in Asturias 3 years ago) in Barcelona.
The Llamber is a modern concept of gastronomy, characterized by a creative tapas menu at affordable prices in a relaxed, modern, but informal atmosphere meeting those characteristics of a typical Spanish tavern. The ingredients are coming directly from the market, using regional and seasonable products, which Fran and his team turn into delicious creations.
When you enter the restaurant you find first a bar where you can have a drink and enjoy a "tapa" with it. If you walk through, you get into the dining area.
Here a little excerpt of the menu:
- Parmesan fondue with shrimps and asparagus
- Marinated salmon with citrus, dill and ginger ice cream
- Steam Mussels with garlic and parsley
- Mini Burger with Goat Cheese, mache and nuts
- Homemade foie gras terrine with textured corn
- Fresh cod with guacamole.
- Cured pork tenderloin stuffed with Rey Silo cheese, peaches and almonds
An amazing meal needs to be accompanied by an amazing wine - I can tell you, it is not easy to choose one of the 30 different open wines or the more than 100 different bottles offered in Llamber.
I think, I said enough... Discover it and let yourself be taken on a journey through the fantastic cuisine of Llamber.

P. S. Being in such a great location, the best choice for after dinner drinks is heading over to one (or more) of the bars on Passeig del Born, like Miramelinda or Cactus.
