The flight and your arrival certainly were exhausting. To don’t overcharge your energy, you should relax and enjoy your first day. Not in your room – no! The beach is the perfect surrounding to spend some recreational hours, to gain new energy. For sightseeing and shopping is more than enough time. Moreover, if you arrive within the week, the beach won't be that crowed as on the weekend. So you should use the chance. Barcelona offers varying, beautiful beaches. The most central one is Platja de la Barcelona, directly next to the Port Olimpic. The other 4 beaches are located easterly to Barceloneta. Platja de la Nova is the beach to right of the Port Olimpica. (Point of view to the sea) The next one is Bogatell beach, and the ones more to the east are Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella. Mar Bella has a nudist area on the beach. Another beach more to the outside of Barcelona is the Sitges beach. The location is a plus point for this beach, as it isn’t that overcrowded and very lovely. A train brings you there from Sants station in about 30 minutes. (more...)

Boat tour in Barcelona?

There are different offers available. For those who want a longer trip the Costa Brava – Half Day – Tour might be the right choice. This tour is only available the next three Saturdays in September. Afterwards, there won’t be any tour until May 2014 – so hurry up, if you want to join. It starts at 08.30h at Plaza Catalunya. The schedule for the trip is the following: 8:30 h.  - Departure from Barcelona, Plaza Catalunya 10:45 h. - Arrival in Lloret de Mar. Free time 11:20 h. - Sailing tour to Tossa de Mar 12:00 h. - Arrival in Tossa de Mar. Walking tour and free time 15:00 h. - Return to Barcelona 16:30 h. - Arrival in Barcelona, Plaza Catalunya The fee for this tour amounts to 55€. Included in this price is the transport, the ticket for the boat and the taxes and a guiding person. Children below 6 are allowed to join for free. The tour is in English and in Spanish. People who want to spend less money, might book a Catamaran Tour for 7€ - 12 €. There are 3 options available: Option 1 Port Vell (green route) one way: 7 € Option 2 Port Vell - Port Olimpic (purple route) one way: 7 € Option 3 Round Trip Port Vell - Port Olimpic - Port Vell: 12 € children (up to 6 years) free It doesn't matter which tour you select, it will be a nice experience! Most of you should know this problem: On the last day of your stay you are standing at 10 or 11 am in front of your hotel or apartment in Barcelona with your suitcases and bags and don't know what to do in the next couple of hours until you have to go to the airport or  train station. Tibidabo

tibidabo churchA couple of days ago, I was on my way from Cadaqués (nice little village in the North of Catalunya - highly recommended) to Barcelona at night. Getting closer and closer to the city, one of the first things I saw, was the beautifully illuminated church of the Tibidabo - one of the main sights of Barcelona. And I made up my mind that my last time up there was way too long ago, so "Hello Tibidabo - I am coming over next weekend!" :) (more...)
